Met Police Officer Investigated for Assault Following Arrest of Netflix Actor

Reece Richards alleges wrongful arrest and racial profiling after being mistaken for a suspect in West London.

Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating a Metropolitan Police officer for potential assault and gross misconduct after the arrest of Netflix actor Reece Richards in September.
Richards, known for his role in 'Sex Education,' claims he was pepper-sprayed, kicked, and restrained by officers near his home in Fulham following a car crash involving unrelated suspects.
The actor stated that he was attempting to assist police by pointing out the direction in which the suspects had fled but was instead arrested and injured during the incident.
Richards and others, including Brenda Edwards, director of the show he was performing in, have alleged racial profiling in the handling of the arrest by officers.
The IOPC investigation will determine whether any officers involved should face disciplinary actions or potential criminal charges, with a second officer also being investigated for misconduct.
