Met Police Officer Charged in Fatal Royal Escort Crash

Christopher Harrison faces charges of causing death by careless driving after an 81-year-old woman was struck by his motorcycle in London.

Helen Holland, 81, died two weeks after being hit by a police motorcycle escorting the Duchess of Edinburgh in May 2023.
The incident occurred at the junction of West Cromwell Road and Warwick Road in Earl's Court, west London.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorized the charge against Harrison following a review by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Harrison is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on November 6, 2024.
Buckingham Palace expressed condolences to Holland's family, with the Duchess of Edinburgh deeply saddened by the incident.
