Overview
- CCTV shows a man smearing a substance reported to be faeces on two synagogues and along a passageway used by worshippers on Highfield Avenue in the early hours of Sunday, September 7.
- Shomrim North West London captured the footage, passed it to detectives, and issued a public appeal for information.
- Detective Superintendent Tony Bellis called the act “revolting and appalling” and asked the public to help identify those responsible, with images of the suspect released.
- A local Jewish school was also reported targeted in the early hours of Monday, which Shomrim says makes it the fourth similar incident in just over a week including a September 3 synagogue attack and August 31 damage to a home.
- Anyone with information is urged to contact Shomrim on 0300 999 1234 or police on 101 quoting crime reference 1071/03SEP; no arrests have been reported.
