Overview
- PC Lauren Evans of the South Area Basic Command Unit was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court on 8 December 2025.
- She had alleged on 22 March 2023 that a plain-clothes officer stopped and sexually assaulted her, a claim investigators determined was false.
- An officer with the same surname driving an unmarked car was arrested on 23 March 2023, then exonerated and released without charge.
- The Met’s Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command led the inquiry, finding no evidence any stop occurred and leading to Evans’s arrest and suspension on 20 April 2023.
- Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cutler condemned the false report as undermining work to support victims and reaffirmed that integrity is required of officers.
