Overview

• An expanded yellow wind warning runs from 8pm Sunday to 6pm Monday across most of England and all of Wales.
• Gusts are forecast at 45–55mph inland and 60–80mph in the most exposed coastal and hilly areas, with regional peaks such as about 48mph in London and up to 61mph in Blackpool.
• The strongest conditions are expected on Monday morning, with winds easing from the west later on Monday and a calmer spell likely on Tuesday.
• Travel disruption is likely across road, rail, air and ferry services, large waves may affect coasts, and short power cuts are possible; the Met Office and RAC urge securing loose items and checking journeys.
• The Met Office does not plan to name this system and is monitoring a separate Atlantic low that could bring further gales later in the week.
