Overview
- A yellow rain warning runs from 9am Saturday to 6am Sunday across much of Wales, northern and western England, southern Scotland and the Lothian Borders, the West Midlands, Derbyshire, and Yorkshire & Humber.
- Forecasters expect 20–30mm of rain widely with isolated 60–80mm falling in a few hours, according to deputy chief meteorologist Tom Crabtree.
- A separate yellow wind warning applies from mid-afternoon into early Sunday for parts of Wales, southwest England and later the east and northeast, with 50–60mph inland gusts and 65–75mph on some coasts.
- Natural Resources Wales has issued several flood alerts and reports note localised flooding and blocked roads, including on the A483 near Swansea, as agencies urge travellers to check routes and secure outdoor items.
- After the rain band clears, a northerly flow is set to bring noticeably cooler conditions with an early autumn chill next week.
