Overview
- Mesh and Visa announced the partnership on Oct. 19, 2026, at the Money20/20 conference in San Francisco and said it will let users pay from wallet balances at Visa-accepting merchants.
- Transactions use a Visa credential provisioned behind the scenes so merchants get a normal fiat payment and shoppers tap contactless terminals or check out online without preloading or selling assets.
- Mesh will act as program manager and handle onboarding, KYC, real-time funding, conversion and routing for participating wallet platforms instead of each platform building issuing infrastructure.
- Key rollout details remain unconfirmed, including which wallets and platforms will turn on the feature first, which cryptocurrencies or stablecoins will be eligible, supported devices, regional limits and how fees and conversion rates will be shown to users.
- The move taps Visa’s scale—175 million acceptance points and $14.2 trillion in fiscal 2025 volume—and aims to convert large crypto ownership into everyday spending, but adoption will hinge on partner rollouts, pricing transparency and local regulation.
