Mesfin and Addunyaa Win Dublin Marathon as Crean, 19, and McGlynn Claim Irish Crowns

  • USA’s Daniel Mesfin won the men’s race in 2:08:51, surging past Manazot Siyum late to prevail by 18 seconds, with Sweden’s Samuel Tsegaye third.
  • Ethiopia’s Eebbissee Addunyaa took the women’s title in 2:26:28, finishing four seconds ahead of compatriot Kena Girma, with Atsede Baysa third.
  • Limerick teenager Ava Crean became the youngest ever Irish women’s champion, clocking a 2:34:11 personal best after breaking clear beyond 30km; Ann-Marie McGlynn was next Irish finisher in 2:36:24.
  • Waterford’s David McGlynn earned the Irish men’s title in 2:10:59 for fifth overall, a personal best of more than four minutes that moves him into Ireland’s all-time top 10; Ryan Creech and Paul O’Donnell completed the national podium.
  • Organisers reported a record field of more than 22,000 on the city-centre course through Phoenix Park, while Irish contender Hiko Tonosa stepped off before 35km.
