Overview
- Officers were called at about 8:30pm on August 26 to a Devonshire Road address in Princes Park, where Akinwale Arobieke was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
- Merseyside Police say there are no suspicious circumstances and confirm that a case file has been passed to the Liverpool and Wirral coroner.
- Arobieke was a well-known figure in Merseyside who in 2003 received a six-year sentence after being convicted of harassing 15 men.
- A Sexual Offences Prevention Order later restricted him from touching men's muscles and visiting gyms, he was convicted of a breach in 2015, and he successfully overturned the 10-year biceps-touching ban in 2016 after an appeal he argued himself.
- In 2022 he secured a substantial out-of-court payout from Greater Manchester Police following a civil claim alleging malicious prosecution and misfeasance, after earlier internal reviews issued words of advice to senior officers.
