Merlin Entertainments CEO Scott O’Neil to Step Down After Two Years

O’Neil is leaving the global attractions giant to pursue another opportunity, with COO Fiona Eastwood stepping in as interim CEO.

Scott O’Neil, who became CEO of Merlin Entertainments in November 2022, will leave his position at the end of 2024 after accepting a new role.
Fiona Eastwood, Merlin’s chief operating officer, will serve as interim CEO while the company searches for a permanent successor.
O’Neil is reportedly in discussions to become the CEO of Saudi-backed LIV Golf, though this has not been officially confirmed.
Under O’Neil’s leadership, Merlin announced major projects, including $85 million investments in Minecraft-themed attractions and the upcoming Legoland Shanghai, its first park in China.
Merlin, the world’s second-largest attractions group, reported record revenues of £2.1 billion last year but also recorded a pre-tax loss of £214 million.
