Mercedes Unveils One-Off Luxury Unimog for 80th Anniversary

Mercedes will place the bespoke truck with a customer in 2026 to gather real-world data before any production call.

Overview

  • Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks partnered with Hellgeth Engineering on a dual-cab show build marking 80 years of the Unimog.
  • The truck uses the U 4023 platform and retains portal axles, a flexible frame and three locking differentials for extreme off-road ability.
  • A 7.7-liter OM936 inline-six replaces the standard 5.1-liter four-cylinder, with output around 300 hp and revised transmission tuning.
  • The cabin gains ergonomic seating for four, premium leather with contrast stitching, LED ambient lighting and leather floor mats.
  • Exterior updates include matte grey paint, aluminum beadlock wheels, a new LED lighting package and MirrorCam camera mirrors; production remains unconfirmed.
