Mercedes GLC EV Debuts Days After BMW iX3 With 713-Km Range and 39-Inch Hyperscreen

Each brand pursues a different playbook to win mid-size luxury EV shoppers.

Overview

  • Mercedes details the GLC 400 4MATIC with 483 hp, a 94 kWh battery, up to 713 km WLTP range, and DC fast charging up to 330 kW that can add about 300 km in 10 minutes.
  • BMW’s iX3 counters with a 108.7 kWh usable battery, an 805 km WLTP figure, around 372 km recovered in 10 minutes, and approximately 463 hp.
  • Cabin tech diverges sharply, with an optional 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen and new MBUX platform for the GLC, versus a standard Panoramic Vision display and a simpler 17.9-inch main screen for the iX3.
  • Chassis highlights for the GLC include optional Airmatic air suspension with rear-axle steering and regenerative braking up to 300 kW, while overall length is slightly greater and cargo space is broadly similar to the iX3.
  • Rollout plans differ as the electric GLC is slated for the first half of 2026 with pricing yet to be announced, whereas the iX3 is positioned in the sub-$60,000 bracket according to company information.
