Overview

• Evan Forde, 32, admitted at the Old Bailey to causing the death of Brazilian passenger Maria Carolina Do Nascimento by dangerous driving.
• Prosecutors said his Mercedes C43 AMG struck a BMW on Hendon Way after reaching up to 144mph on a 40mph road at about 3:45am on Dec. 25, 2022.
• Officers had signalled for the Mercedes to stop shortly beforehand, there was no pursuit, and the occupants fled the scene on foot.
• Judge Anthony Leonard KC granted conditional bail and adjourned sentencing to Oct. 22, telling Forde a prison term is the most likely outcome.
• The Metropolitan Police has made a routine referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding the prior police contact.
