Overview

  • The 600,000th G-Class rolled off the Graz, Austria assembly line on August 5, 2025 as an all-electric G 580 EQ finished in Obsidian Black Metallic.
  • The G 580 EQ delivers zero tailpipe emissions and records a combined energy consumption of 30.3–27.7 kWh per 100 km with a CO₂ class A rating.
  • Since its 1979 launch, the G-Class has preserved its boxy silhouette, round headlights and robust ladder-frame chassis with full-time all-wheel drive and 100 percent locking differentials.
  • More than 90 percent of G-Class buyers now select at least one MANUFAKTUR customization, choosing from over 20,000 paint colors and bespoke interior features.
  • Special editions such as the “Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s” continue to honor the model’s heritage by echoing design cues from the original W 460 series.
