Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept Shatters 25 EV Endurance Marks, From 5,479 km in 24 Hours to a Weeklong ‘World’ Lap

The Nardò run served as a proving ground for AMG.EA hardware with axial-flux motors, an 800-volt, oil-cooled NCMA battery and roughly 850 kW charging that exceeds current public fast-charging capabilities.

Overview

  • Two GT XX prototypes completed the campaign, covering 40,075 km in 7 days, 13 hours and 24 minutes and finishing within about two laps of each other.
  • The cars set a 24-hour EV distance record at 5,479 km, eclipsing XPeng’s recent mark by 1,518 km during a continuous, company-run program.
  • A 17-driver roster, including F1’s George Russell, rotated through two-hour stints at roughly 300 km/h, logging 3,177 laps in temperatures up to 35°C.
  • Recharging stops drew about 850 kW, enabling roughly 400 km of range in five minutes using specialized equipment not available to consumers.
  • The concept’s tri-motor axial-flux setup delivers over 1,360 hp with an 800-volt architecture and directly cooled cylindrical NCMA cells, which Mercedes says will inform future AMG.EA production models.
