Overview
- Selected coastal and high-traffic municipalities will open this Sunday, Aug. 31, on a reduced 9:00–15:00 schedule, with locations listed in local press.
- Examples of Sunday openings include Benidorm, Cullera, Marbella, Ibiza, Oropesa, Denia and Jávea, subject to each store’s posted hours.
- Starting Monday, Sept. 1, all supermarkets return to the usual 9:00–21:30 timetable from Monday to Saturday, with Sundays and holidays generally closed.
- Roughly 300 stores offered Sunday service during the summer, and many in regions such as Andalucía, the Valencian Community, Catalonia, the Canary Islands, Murcia, Galicia and the Balearic Islands extended weekday closing to 22:00.
- Mercadona operates more than 1,600 stores in Spain and advises customers to confirm exact local hours via its online supermarket locator.
