Cash donations at checkout, plus a €240,500 company top‑up, will let food banks purchase priority items over the next year.

Overview

  • Across 1,589 stores participating from November 7–16, customers contributed €1,693,836 to FESBAL’s annual campaign.
  • FESBAL and regional food banks report the funds will translate into roughly 1,290 tonnes of basic food, equivalent to more than 16,100 shopping carts.
  • In Valencia, shoppers gave €92,972 and Mercadona added €9,297.20, an estimated 68,179 kilos of food or 852 carts.
  • In Castilla‑La Mancha, customers donated €61,724, expected to become about 51,149 kilos of essential products; in Extremadura, €27,990 from shoppers plus €6,000 from the company will yield around 22,665 kilos.
  • Mercadona highlights the cash model as precise, secure and more sustainable, offers tax-deductible receipts, and promotes ‘Tarjetas Sociedad’ prepaid cards to deliver aid with greater dignity.
