Mendoza Opens Espacio Costanera, Completing Terminal Remodel

Linking the terminal's private cameras to the provincial crime-surveillance network aims to strengthen prevention at a busy transport hub turned retail destination.

Overview

  • Espacio Costanera officially opened on June 24, 2026 when terminal managers and provincial and municipal officials held a ribbon-cutting for the west wing of the Terminal de Ómnibus de Mendoza.
  • The new mixed-use wing houses national and international brands such as McDonald's, KFC, Havanna, Helados Soppelsa, a Sporting outlet, Match play area and technology and fashion stores.
  • Terminal directors signed a formal agreement with the provincial Ministerio de Seguridad to add the terminal's private CCTV feeds to Mendoza's videovigilancia antidelito as part of a new public–private security scheme.
  • Operational rules that restrict access to the preembarque waiting area to ticketed passengers remain in force, and Espacio Costanera offers about 150 parking spaces with a three-hour validation tied to on-site consumption.
  • The opening completes the three-phase remodel begun after the 2017 concession and is meant to keep local shopping and tourist spending in Guaymallén while improving traveler safety and creating new jobs at the terminal.
