Overview
- The provincial interministerial operation was active on Monday, Sept. 21, with about 2,000 police officers per shift assigned to Gran Mendoza, Potrerillos, El Carrizal, Valle Grande, Valle de Uco and other high-traffic sites.
- Nautical and water-safety rules were enforced with navigation allowed only until 19:00, bans on bathing in non‑authorized waters, mandatory lifejackets and visible vessel registration, and nautical fines reported up to $6,000,000.
- Authorities carried out extensive alcohol and vehicle checks, reporting 1,078 breath tests with 45 positives, 2,409 vehicles inspected and the retention of 143 vehicles while forbidding transport of large alcohol volumes and seizing beverages when found.
- Health and emergency resources were bolstered with SEC motor units and extra ambulances at key sites, and fire-prevention teams increased patrols under the Plan Provincial de Manejo del Fuego with fire fines up to $70,000,000 and possible criminal charges for breaches.
- Student Day traditionally draws large crowds to reservoirs each spring so these measures focus on preventing drownings, accidents and fires and will determine whether stricter enforcement changes how young people celebrate in Mendoza this season.
