Mendoza Completes Final Mass Water Outage to Commission Macrodistribution Upgrades

The shutdown caps a yearlong overhaul designed to improve flow control and pressure and to end the series of metropolitan megacuts.

Overview

  • AYSAM finished the planned works around 7 p.m. local time after a 4 a.m. start, moving into reservoir recovery and network purging.
  • Service will return progressively with full normalization in up to 24–48 hours as storage levels and pressure are restored.
  • The intervention commissioned the La Puntilla distribution and regulation chamber and large regulation valves to better route water from Luján I and Potrerillos toward Alto Godoy and Alto Benegas.
  • The outage covered wide areas of Gran Mendoza, and AYSAM deployed three tanker trucks to supply hospitals, dialysis centers and clinics.
  • In parallel, ABSA carried out a 10‑hour cut in San Miguel del Monte for maintenance, and Sedapal reported scheduled interruptions in Lima with cistern support.
