Mendoza Approves Two-Stage Transit Fare Hike and Jujuy Announces 4% Rise on Medium-Distance Routes

The changes are presented as necessary to sustain subsidies, with SUBE discounts and fare exemptions remaining in place.

Overview

  • Mendoza’s Resolution Nº 1656 lifts the general fare in the Greater Mendoza area from $1,000 to $1,200 on November 10, 2025, and to $1,400 on January 1, 2026.
  • The Mendoza schedule covers the Metrotranvía and re-prices differential services at higher levels, including a $1,900 general fare in November and $2,280 from January.
  • Implementation in Mendoza will roll out gradually as SUBE validators are updated, according to the resolution signed by Subsecretary Luis Eduardo Borrego.
  • The provincial measure keeps progressive SUBE discounts for frequent riders and maintains gratuities or reduced fares for students, teachers, older adults, people with disabilities, and other eligible groups.
  • Jujuy set roughly a 4% increase for medium-distance tickets effective the day after the announcement, with example fares from $2,265 (Zona Diques/Los Alisos) to $27,500 (La Quiaca), while city councilors met unions stressing protection of about 5,000–6,000 jobs in the urban transport tender process.
