Memphis Guard Sincere Parker Arrested on Assault, Vandalism Charges

His arrest follows the NCAA’s recent probation, with the program fined $30,000 for academic misconduct.

Overview

  • A warrant issued July 18 led to Parker’s arrest on July 19 on felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor vandalism charges, with arraignment set for July 21.
  • Court documents accuse Parker of pushing, slapping and choking his girlfriend during an alleged May 27 incident at their Memphis apartment, and breaking her cellphone.
  • The victim reported sustaining bruises and a bloody mouth and told investigators she feared for her safety when she met with police in June.
  • The University of Memphis has declined further comment on the active investigation, and Parker remains in custody at the Shelby County Jail.
  • Earlier this month the NCAA placed Memphis athletics on two-year probation and fined the program $30,000 after finding academic advisor payments to student-athletes.
