Melvin Robert Joins KTLA as New Entertainment Anchor, Filling Role of Late Sam Rubin

The Inglewood native and former 'Extra' correspondent will begin his role on 'KTLA Morning News' the week of March 17, honoring the legacy of Sam Rubin while bringing his own expertise to the station.

Melvin Robert, a Southern California native, will take on the role of entertainment anchor and reporter for 'KTLA Morning News,' starting the week of March 17.
The position was previously held by Sam Rubin, a Los Angeles broadcasting legend who passed away in May 2024 after a 33-year tenure at KTLA.
Robert brings years of experience from roles at 'Extra,' 'Good Day LA,' and Spectrum News 1, as well as a prior stint at KTLA from 2016 to 2018.
He will contribute daily entertainment and pop culture segments, co-host red-carpet specials, and participate in community-focused programming at KTLA.
KTLA leadership emphasized Robert’s deep connection to Los Angeles and his ability to honor Rubin’s legacy while evolving the station’s entertainment coverage.
