Overview

  • Melissa Hortman served as House speaker from 2019 to 2025 after years leading the DFL caucus and was known for her pragmatic leadership
  • Their caskets and that of their golden retriever, Gilbert, will be on display in the Capitol rotunda from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, making Hortman the first woman in state history to receive the honor
