- On Friday, June 27, the caskets of Melissa and Mark Hortman and their golden retriever, Gilbert, will lie in state in the Minnesota Capitol rotunda from noon to 5 p.m.
- A private funeral is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, at 10:30 a.m. with a livestream available on the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s YouTube channel.
- Vance Luther Boelter, 57, was arrested on June 15 and now faces state and federal murder charges, including two federal counts that carry the death penalty.
- Authorities say Boelter also wounded Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, and targeted more than 45 lawmakers in a political assassination plot.
- Hortman’s lying in state will mark the first time a woman has received this honor in Minnesota history.
