Melania Trump, herself a naturalized citizen, will speak alongside U.S. Archivist Colleen Shogan at the event, marking her latest public appearance amid her husband's third presidential campaign.
The event coincides with a complicated relationship between the Trump family and the National Archives, as former President Donald Trump faces charges for mishandling classified documents following his departure from the White House.
The National Archives had tried to retrieve documents stored at former President Trump’s Florida home for months, leading to an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago by the FBI.
The former president faces Espionage Act charges in the Mar-a-Lago case after refusing to return classified records from his time as president, as well as obstruction of justice charges for his efforts to conceal them from prosecutors. The trial is scheduled to begin May 20.
