- Lionsgate will distribute Part One on Good Friday, March 26, 2027, and Part Two on Ascension Day, May 6, 2027.
- Both films are produced by Mel Gibson and Bruce Davey under Icon Productions as a follow-up to the 2004 blockbuster The Passion of the Christ.
- Jim Caviezel returns as Jesus Christ alongside original cast members, with de-aging CGI planned to portray a younger incarnation.
- Gibson and co-writer Randall Wallace penned a nonlinear script described by the director as an “acid trip” that explores angelic fall and afterlife realms.
- Filming is slated to begin in August at Rome’s Cinecittà Studios and in Southern Italian locations including Matera, Ginosa and Altamura.
