Mel Brooks and Josh Gad Team Up for 'Spaceballs' Sequel at Amazon MGM

The cult classic sci-fi parody returns with Gad starring and co-writing alongside Mel Brooks, who will also produce.

Josh Greenbaum will direct the sequel, with a script by Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez.
The original 'Spaceballs', released in 1987, grossed $38.1 million and became a cult hit.
Kevin Salter, producer of 'History of the World: Part II', will serve as executive producer.
The project is in early development and plot details are still under wraps.
Gad hinted at the project on social media, calling it his funniest work yet.
