Meituan Creates Rider ‘Good Deeds’ and ‘Bravery’ Awards With Prizes Up to ¥100,000

The move underscores a broader push to strengthen protections for delivery workers.

Overview

  • At the 2025 Pioneer Rider ceremony on Nov. 6, Meituan formalized two awards to recognize altruism and bravery, with top cash prizes of ¥100,000.
  • Since 2021, the company says it has honored more than 1,000 riders and provided benefits worth several tens of millions of yuan, including cash, serious-illness coverage and tuition support.
  • As of Nov. 1, Meituan’s rider pension insurance subsidy covers the whole country, which it describes as the industry’s first plan open to all riders.
  • The serious-illness plan now extends to riders’ parents, spouses and minor children, presented as the first in the sector to cover core family members.
  • Safety and community initiatives include long-term training with emergency and medical organizations, pilots that scrap late-delivery fines and reward traffic-law compliance, and a network of over 1,000 rider homes plus 100,000 stations.
