Meghalaya Notifies Inflation-Linked Minimum Daily Wages
The new rates incorporate a daily inflation component across 29 scheduled employments in the state.

- The Labour department’s July 24 notification formalizes daily wages effective retroactively from April 1, 2025.
- Unskilled workers will earn ₹541 per day, semi-skilled ₹583, skilled ₹624 and highly-skilled ₹665, all inclusive of a Variable Dearness Allowance.
- Each rate combines a base wage with a VDA component, for instance unskilled workers receive ₹525 plus ₹16 per day.
- The revisions cover 29 scheduled employments across sectors such as agriculture, construction, domestic work and registered factories.
- The standard eight-hour day, 48-hour week and one paid rest day remain unchanged, with overtime paid at double rate and wages set for semi-annual CPI review.
