Meghalaya Launches Rs 6.6 Crore Scholarship to Fully Fund Hospitality Tuition at IHM Shillong

A state panel will pick 55 low-income residents per year, one from each block, for three cohorts.

Overview

  • The Chief Minister Hospitality Scholarship Programme will support 165 students over five years with full tuition coverage for the B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Management at IHM Shillong.
  • The government’s outlay totals Rs 6.6 crore, translating to roughly Rs 3.6 lakh in tuition support per beneficiary.
  • Applicants must be permanent residents of Meghalaya, have passed Class XII with English, and come from families earning under Rs 3 lakh annually, with no age bar.
  • The scheme excludes non-tuition costs, requiring students to pay for hostel accommodation, mess, uniforms, and other incidentals.
  • Selection will be merit- and interest-based with final nominations decided by a state-level committee, paving the way for the first batch to be admitted under the new rules.
