The plant has started processing raw rubber locally, cutting out middlemen to boost incomes for 3,000 growers.

Overview

  • The facility represents the second centrifuged latex plant in Northeast India and the first in Meghalaya.
  • It offers competitive pricing, reduces transport burdens, and aims to eliminate outside middlemen for Garo Hills rubber farmers.
  • Construction has commenced on a Rs 23 crore fruit dehydration unit with an annual 7,400-tonne capacity to benefit over 5,000 fruit growers by November 2026.
  • These processing initiatives support the government’s target of a $10 billion economy by enhancing value addition and promoting rural entrepreneurship through schemes such as FOCUS and CM Elevate.
