Meghalaya Commits Over Rs 3,000 Crore to Youth Programmes, Allocates Rs 400 Crore to South Garo Hills
This funding is aimed at expanding school infrastructure alongside entrepreneurship programmes to prepare Meghalaya for the National Games.

- Meghalaya has invested close to Rs 3,000 crore in education, sports and entrepreneurship programmes in recent years, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said in mid-June.
- The state will channel an additional Rs 400 crore into South Garo Hills projects over the next two to three years, building on Rs 1,400 crore already implemented since 2018.
- New infrastructure under Mission Education Phase I includes smart classrooms, renovated government schools and the opening of Dalu Government Higher Secondary School in West Garo Hills.
- Preparations for the National Games are under way with foundations laid for synthetic athletic tracks, scheduled meetings with sports associations and enhanced facilities to support sportspersons.
- Youth-focused schemes such as MGMP, CM Elevate and PRIME are set to expand opportunities for artists, entrepreneurs and tourism ventures in the state’s biodiversity-rich regions.
