Meghalaya Assembly Sets Autumn Session for Sept 8–12

The Business Advisory Committee has approved a Monday-to-Friday schedule to streamline proceedings following a lighter legislative agenda.

Overview

  • In a meeting on August 13 chaired by Speaker Thomas A. Sangma, the BAC unanimously finalized the five-day Autumn Session calendar.
  • The session will feature three days of Government Business and two days reserved for Private Members’ Business.
  • Officials cited fewer Supplementary Demands and Demands for Grants as justification for the condensed timetable.
  • Leader of the Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma joined the committee meeting virtually from Tura alongside senior MLAs and parliamentary affairs officials.
  • The Parliamentary Affairs Department will formally publish the approved schedule ahead of the session’s September commencement.
