Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $650 Million, 10th Largest in Game History

The surge follows an April revamp that raised the ticket price to $5, added automatic multipliers and modestly improved odds.

Overview

  • The current grand prize is estimated at $650 million with a cash value of $304.1 million as of Tuesday morning.
  • With recent growth, the pot passed a 2013 $648 million prize to rank No. 10 all-time and could move to ninth if it increases by more than $6 million before the next drawing.
  • The next drawing is scheduled for 11 p.m. ET on Tuesday, with tickets sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • April 8 changes reduced the Mega Ball field to 24, removed the Megaplier and Just the Jackpot options, and built in a 2x–10x multiplier on all non-jackpot prizes.
  • Officials report $344.4 million paid in non-jackpot prizes in the first six months post-overhaul, including $134 million to players who matched only the Mega Ball.
