Overview
- The Mediterrane Film Festival will run June 21-29 in Valletta, marking its third edition and the 100th anniversary of Malta’s first feature film.
- The Golden Bee Awards jury comprises director Catherine Hardwicke, Oscar-winning production designer Rick Carter, costume designer Charlese Antoinette, set decorator Elli Griff, production designer James Price and Maltese filmmaker Mario Philip Azzopardi.
- Grainne Humphreys of the Dublin Film Festival and Sundance senior programmer Ania Trzebiatowska will judge the Mare Nostrum strand dedicated to environmental and sustainability themes.
- Event programming includes a main competition for Mediterranean titles, an out-of-competition slate of global films and the Mare Nostrum section showcasing eco-focused narrative and documentary work.
- Industry panels, roundtables and masterclasses will be hosted at Fort Ricasoli, and Hardwicke’s Lords of Dogtown will receive a 20th anniversary screening with a filmmaker discussion.
