Overview

  • The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled that Raymond Moreau’s death was an accident caused by blunt trauma to his head, neck, torso and extremities.
  • A public memorial ceremony is planned for Tuesday evening at the Plainville High School stadium in honor of the 35-year volunteer firefighter.
  • Connecticut State Police have joined with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the local prosecutor’s office to probe the equipment failure that struck Moreau.
  • Volunteer fire departments statewide have offered mutual aid and placed floral tributes and mourning bands at the Plainville Fire Department in solidarity.
  • Moreau served with the Plainville Fire Department since 1990 and was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
