Medical Examiner Releases Sketch of Unidentified Golden Gate Park Victim

Authorities continue to appeal for tips after initial identification efforts failed to name the roughly 30-year-old man discovered May 12.

The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who died on May 12 in a public bathroom at Golden Gate Park.

Overview

  • The Office of the Chief Examiner released a sketch depicting the roughly 30-year-old man’s brown hair, brown eyes and distinctive cross tattoo on his right cheekbone.
  • The man was found unresponsive in a public bathroom near Martin Luther King Jr Drive and 19th Avenue on May 12 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Despite using fingerprints, DNA testing, witness interviews and other methods, officials have been unable to determine his identity, a result they called “rare.”
  • Investigators have not yet determined the cause or manner of death and are reviewing forensic findings.
  • The medical examiner’s office is urging anyone with information to call its investigative division at 415-641-2220 or email [email protected].
