Overview
- Medford Public Schools will close on Good Friday, April 3, canceling classes and after-school programs while district and school offices stay open.
- The district, which announced the decision Tuesday, said the volume of staff absences left too few adults to run buildings safely.
- Reported absences included leave for Good Friday and Passover observance, sick days, vacation time, and personal reasons.
- To make up the lost day, school will run June 22 and 23 as full days and June 24 and 25 as early release, with Roberts Elementary also releasing early on June 26.
- Parents described scrambling for last-minute childcare, though others welcomed a day that lets staff observe the holiday.
