Medanta Hospital Technician Arrested for Sexual Assault of ICU Patient

The accused, a 25-year-old technician, was apprehended following a four-day investigation involving CCTV analysis and staff interrogations.

  • Deepak, a 25-year-old technician employed at Medanta Hospital for five months, was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 46-year-old flight attendant in the ICU on April 6.
  • The victim, who was on ventilator support and semi-conscious at the time, disclosed the incident to her husband after being discharged on April 13, leading to an FIR on April 14.
  • A Special Investigation Team (SIT), supported by eight specialized units, reviewed footage from 800 CCTV cameras and questioned over 50 hospital staff members to identify and apprehend the suspect.
  • Medanta Hospital has suspended the accused and is fully cooperating with the investigation, providing access to all relevant documents and footage.
  • The accused has been charged under Sections 64(2)(e) and 68 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and will appear in court on April 19 as the investigation continues.
