McIntosh Sets Second World Record in Three Days at Canadian Trials

Her 2:05.70 performance in the 200m individual medley underscores her dominance as she eyes five events at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

Summer Mcintosh broke another world record at the Canadian Swimming Trials on Monday, this time in the 200m individual medley.

  • On June 9 at the Bell Canadian Swimming Trials in Victoria, McIntosh broke Katinka Hosszu’s 200m individual medley record with a time of 2:05.70, becoming the first woman under 2:06.
  • It was her second world mark in three days after she swam the 400m freestyle in 3:54.18 on June 7 to eclipse Ariarne Titmus’s previous record.
  • McIntosh also recorded the third-fastest 800m freestyle in history with an 8:05.07 on June 8, finishing just 0.95 seconds shy of Katie Ledecky’s world record.
  • The 18-year-old Toronto native now holds world records in the 200m IM, 400m freestyle and 400m IM and won three gold medals at the Paris Olympics.
  • She is set to compete in five individual events at the World Aquatics Championships, which begin in Singapore on July 27.
