M.C.I. Foods Recalls 91,585 Pounds of School-Distributed Breakfast Burritos Over Listeria Risk

Supplier testing of a scrambled-egg ingredient triggered the Class 1 action.

Overview

  • Ready-to-eat burritos and wraps under the El Más Fino, Los Cabos and Midamar brands were produced Sept. 17–Oct. 14 and shipped to foodservice institutions nationwide, including schools.
  • Affected products tied to the recall carry USDA establishment numbers EST. 1162A or P-5890A inside the inspection mark.
  • FSIS warns some items may still be in institutional refrigerators or freezers and instructs operators not to serve them and to discard any remaining stock.
  • No illnesses have been confirmed to date, though listeriosis poses serious risk to pregnant people, newborns, older adults and those with weakened immune systems.
  • FSIS says the voluntary recall remains ongoing and the agency is conducting recall-effectiveness checks, with detailed product lists and labels available on its website.
