MCEME Pushes Technology-First Training as Cadets Receive Top Medals

Senior MCEME leaders said the Indian Army must field officers who master electronics, automation and systems thinking to meet changing battlefield demands.

Overview

  • The Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering held an award distribution at its Cadets Training Wing in Secunderabad to honour 56 officer cadets from the TES-48 and TES-50 courses with medals and unit distinctions.
  • The GOC-in-C ARTRAC Gold Medals went to WCC Prem Solanki (TES-48) and PCQM Arpit Kadian (TES-50); Silver Medals went to WCA Tangi Sairam and PCQM Anuj Rana, Bronze Medals to PCC Prajwal Raut and PCQM Aman Kumar, and the Prithiviraj Platoon ‘The Panthers’ received the ARTRAC banner for the Autumn Term 2026.
  • Commandant Lt. Gen. I. S. Rathore used the ceremony to argue the army needs technically proficient officers who pursue lifelong learning, nurture a scientific temper and foster innovation and collaboration.
  • ARTRAC’s presentation of medals and the unit banner underscores institutional alignment between MCEME training and army doctrine that prioritises electronics, automation and other advanced technologies in future warfare.
  • The focus on technical skills is likely to shape careers and curricula for TES officers by increasing emphasis on engineering, systems training and cross-disciplinary exercises, and it may prompt updates to MCEME courses and wider training policy.
