Overview

  • Starting Sept. 2, more than 500 restaurants in Wisconsin, Colorado and nearby areas will offer a test lineup of five drinks inspired by CosMc’s, including Creamy Vanilla Cold Brew and Popping Tropic Refresher.
  • The market test will help McDonald’s refine beverage operations and build a scalable platform for specialty drinks in its core restaurants.
  • The drinks lineup targets Gen Z preferences with customizable cold coffees, fruity refreshers and crafted sodas.
  • The rollout follows the closure of all eight standalone CosMc’s locations in May after 18 months of branded experimentation.
  • Executives expect the new beverages to boost afternoon and snack-time sales and sharpen McDonald’s competitive edge against chains such as Dutch Bros., 7 Brew Drive Thru Coffee and Swig.
