Overview

  • Starting September 2, McDonald’s will introduce 10 CosMc’s-inspired beverages—including Creamy Vanilla Cold Brew, Strawberry Watermelon Refresher, Toasted Vanilla Frappé, Sprite Lunar Splash and Popping Tropic Refresher—to more than 500 restaurants.
  • Participating locations span Wisconsin, Colorado and surrounding areas as McDonald’s gauges customer response to new specialty drinks.
  • The initiative follows the May closure of all eight CosMc’s standalone outlets after an 18-month pilot of customizable cold coffees, refreshers and sodas.
  • McDonald’s aims to capture Gen Z consumers’ preference for colorful, flavorful drinks and bolster its competitiveness against beverage-focused chains like Starbucks and Dutch Bros.
  • Data from the regional test will inform enhancements to McDonald’s global beverage platform and determine which offerings could see a wider rollout.
