Swiggy debuts 'High Protein' burger section with McDonald’s limited menu upgrade in 58 cities

Overview

  • The Protein Plus slice is priced at Rs 25 per slice and is live at 440 McDonald’s outlets in West and South India alongside a limited-time Swiggy rollout across 58 cities.
  • Each 15 g plant-based slice delivers 5 g of protein and is made from soy, pea and whey protein with no preservatives, artificial colours, onion or garlic.
  • The offering completes nearly six months of joint R&D by McDonald’s India and CSIRCFTRI and builds on last year’s multi-millet bun plus reduced sodium and oil reforms.
  • When added, the slice boosts protein in signature burgers up to 25.29 g in the McSpicy Paneer and 13.5 g in the McAloo Tikki without altering taste.
  • The initiative targets India’s 70% adult protein deficiency, aligns with Food Safety and Standards Act goals and supports McDonald’s growth strategy ahead of its 2027 expansion.
