McDonald’s Drive-Thru Shooting Suspect Detained Pending August Hearing

The 38-year-old was arrested in Sterling after police traced his dark sedan to allegations that he fired a handgun at teenagers in a Mount Prospect drive-thru.

  • Bashkim Rockwell allegedly fired at four 16-year-olds in a Honda Pilot at the 13 W. Rand Road McDonald’s drive-thru on July 25.
  • No injuries were reported and the teenagers called 911 after hearing what they believed to be a gunshot and finding a bullet mark on their vehicle.
  • An officer spotted a matching dark-colored sedan near Kensington Road and Wheeling Road, recorded its license plate and ended a high-speed chase for safety reasons.
  • In coordination with the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Prospect police arrested Rockwell in Sterling on July 31.
  • He faces felony counts including aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated fleeing and eluding police, as well as a misdemeanor speeding charge.
