Overview
- The Medical Counselling Committee began Round 2 registration for NEET UG 2026 on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and candidates must register on the MCC portal to take part in counselling.
- MCC published an updated Round 2 seat matrix that adds 659 MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing seats and lists 12,283 virtual vacancies alongside 11,302 clear vacancies for allotment consideration.
- The committee set a short counselling window commonly reported as Sept. 3–11 for registration, choice filling and allotment processing but some reports show different end-dates, so candidates should watch official MCC and state portals for clarifications.
- Round 2 registration requires a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit with examples of amounts being Rs.1,000 plus Rs.10,000 security for UR/EWS and Rs.500 plus Rs.5,000 for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates.
- Allotment processing is scheduled through the second week of September with candidate reporting and joining due from Sept. 12–18 and institute/MCC verification of joined candidate data set for Sept. 19, so applicants must complete joining and document checks within those deadlines.
