Overview
- Crime Branch teams raided a Cherlapally facility on September 5 linked to Vagdevi entities and seized about 5.968 kg of mephedrone, tens of thousands of litres of chemicals and 950 kg of powder, along with cash, vehicles and phones.
- The probe began with the August 8 arrest of a 23-year-old Bangladeshi woman in Mira Road, whose interrogation led investigators to suppliers in Telangana and a wider cross‑state network.
- Twelve people have been arrested so far, including factory owner Srinivas Vijay Murthy Voleti and associate Tanaji Pandharinath Patwari, who are alleged to have supplied MD to the Mumbai region.
- The two prime accused were produced before a Kushaiguda court for transit remand and moved to Mumbai, where they are to be produced in court as investigators pursue additional links.
- MBVV asserts the seized materials could have yielded drugs worth roughly Rs 12,000 crore, a figure disputed by Telangana authorities who report a much lower value for the confiscated contraband.
