MBVV Police Arrest Two in Cross-Border Cyber-Slavery Racket

Investigators are tracing ransom flows to a Myanmar-based UU8 cyber-fraud hub named by victims.

  • Police say Indian jobseekers were lured with overseas offers and trafficked through Thailand or Dubai to Myanmar or Oman for forced cybercrime or sexual exploitation.
  • Asif Khan alias Nepali was arrested in Mira Road and Rohit Kumar Mandal was held in Surat for allegedly collecting release payments from victims’ families.
  • Victims reported being coerced to create fake female profiles to befriend Indians and push fraudulent cryptocurrency investments for a unit called UU8 in Myanmar.
  • Officers said families were extorted for about ₹6 lakh per victim, with transfers routed through five Indian bank accounts.
  • A woman who was promised work in Dubai recounted being forced into prostitution and later trafficked to Oman before escaping, leading to a case under BNS and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
